We are hugely proud to announce that we have been awarded Taste Of The West GOLD for the fourth year running!
A very big thank you to all of our lovely staff, wonderful suppliers and of course our loyal customers.

Commenting on Bocabar, the Judge says:

“Bocabar is a restaurant that fits many purposes, from somewhere to enjoy a casual drink to a restaurant for a celebration. The care and attention taken to local sourcing carries throughout. The drinks and cocktail menu communicates local suppliers, just as well as the food menu does!”

Friday 26th April – LAID BLAK + SUPPORT

Laid+Blak+poster+AW.jpg

Ska, Reggae &  Street Soul

SUNSHINE DANCE MUSIC FROM BRISTOL

8pm-1am

The Laid Blak sound takes massive inspiration from ska and reggae, but has often been described as ‘street soul’. Their influences are broad and represent sounds that define the eclecticness of Bristol music; reggae, dancehall, soul, hip hop, funk and jazz, whilst of course never forgetting their jungle heritage. It’s all in the blend and the result is a fun-filled sunshine dance music that keeps your feet moving and your face smiling.

Laid Blak have supported many heavyweights from the world of reggae and beyond, including Toots and the Maytals, Desmond Dekker, Nitin Sawhney, Julian Marley, John Legend, Luciano and even pop acts like McFly.

They have also performed alongside Tricky in Paris, and have supported the likes of The Wailers, The Easy Allstars and Lee Scratch Perry.

Laid Blak have regularly rocked the crowd at festivals around the UK including; Glastonbury Festival, Boomtown, Shambala, Love Saves the Day, St Pauls Carnival, Bristol Harbourside Festival, and many more.
Winning over even the most cynical of punter and making them shock-out on the dancefloor.

Their eagerly anticipated album ‘About Time’ dropped in early 2018 followed by a 12 date UK tour.

Tickets £8 in advance available here / £10 OTD • 18’s and over only

Pixels returns to Glastonbury in collaboration with Styles of Somerset - to give you the official 2019 Styles of Somerset after party. We're inviting three of the key players at the forefront of the recent UK Funky resurgence, for a night of high energy percussion driven madness, with support from resident Pixels players.

DJ Motu // Roska Kicks & Snares

DJ Motu is a local legend hailing from Yeovil, who's unique productions have seen him capture the attention of many figureheads in the scene, being regularly played on BBC 1xtra and supporting top tier names such as Roska and Conducta. If you haven't seen him play for us, expect an onslaught of bass driven stompers from start to finish.

Boa Kusasa // Babylon Uprising Market Soundsystem - Durkle Disco

This fiery duo are no joke. They are known for bringing the party wherever they set down, drawing influences from all over the world from intricate tribal rhythms to powerful horn sections. It's difficult to know where they'll take us - but you can count on being out of breath by the end.

Namaste & Sonni // Pixels

Two hardhitters from the Pixels camp will be providing a touch of Grime & Dubstep on the night, Namaste supplying the beats and Sonni bringing the bars.

Support - Pixels DJs • 8pm-1am

Tickets: £3 in advance, available online: https://redbrickbuilding.co.uk/event/pixels-styles-of-somerset-after-party • £5 OTD

British Wildlife Photography 2018 Awards: Exhibition Preview

A Celebration of British Wildlife

open daily from Friday 5th April – Friday 31st May, 10am – 5pm

Hosted by the Red Brick Building in The Event Space

We are delighted to be hosting the British Wildlife Photography 2018 Awards exhibition. This is the third year we have hosted this wonderful exhibition which celebrates both the work of amateur and professional photographers and the beauty and diversity of British wildlife. Winning images are chosen from thousands of entries in fifteen separate categories including a category for film and two junior categories to encourage young people to connect with nature through photography.

Naturalist, Author and Wildlife TV Producer Stephen Moss comments;

“Once again, this collection of images from the British Wildlife Photography Awards leaves us in awe of the skill, patience and artistry of the photographers whose work is showcased here. The extraordinary range of subjects, species and habitats, and the imaginative way they are portrayed, leaves us in no doubt that we in Britain are fortunate to be home to some of the most talented photographers.”

Suggested donation of £3 to help cover running costs.
